About

Welcome. My name is Laura Hutchinson and I am a civil legal practitioner in the Republic of Ireland, with five years’ experience on the Dublin and South Eastern Circuits. My main areas of practice are family law and personal injuries, but I also cover a wide variety of civil matters including, but not limited to, licensing, employment law, negligence, and contract law.

I am lucky to have a career that I am passionate about and, through this website, I hope to share some of that passion with you. Most of the posts will be objective discussions and explanations of certain areas of the law, but some will include practical and personal experience, such as how some regulations are applied in practice, and how the Irish courts interpret various statutory provisions. I will also give some insight into how the judicial system operates, and the ways in which different cases progress through the courts.

The law is ever-changing and, by maintaining and updating this site, I aim to ensure that I constantly keep up with new developments in my areas of practice. I hope that you will find it useful, informative, and insightful, as much as I will find it enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding.

hi, is it possible for a married Irish man to bring his kids to leave in Ireland their mother?

  2. kaseem taju

hi, sorry the kids are from a relationship with another woman.

  3. Hi Kaseem. Unfortunately, I do not give out legal advice on this website — it is for information purposes only. If you require legal advice, you should contact a solicitor (a local one can be found in the phonebook). Alternatively, you may be able to find what you are looking for on CitizensInformation.ie. Here is a link to their section on family and relationships: http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/birth_family_relationships/

Hi, Laura. I was wondering how to get in contact with you? (Other than through the comment section) I’m a college student looking for permission to use your articles on the Irish court system in an assignment. You haven’t made a post since 2013 so here is hoping you see this haha. Thank you for your time.

  5. Hi. As you say, I haven’t posted in a while so a lot of these articles are now out of date. For more up-to-date information, I’d suggest checking out the courts.ie site and citizensinformation.ie. Both great resources.

    Good luck with your studies!
